Introduction
Cameo is a light-weight, open source content management system (CMS), aiming at building up a publishing platform that meets the minimum set of need and requirements from most of the small businesses as well as individuals.
Before Cameo CMS is created, I had been experiencing and using several kinds of CMS, most of which are fully equipped with functions satisfying almost all kinds of requirements. With such a platform, 95% of our customers — small companies and individuals — use less than 5% of its functions provided. In such case, however, most of the back-end editors, with limited computer operational knowledge in general, are often confused with these powerful systems. For this reason, Cameo provides just the 5% of functions to satisfy the 95% of users.
What Cameo can do
Cameo CMS manage columns and articles. Columns are displayed in a tree view. An article always belongs to a certain column (article-list-column). Besides article-list-column, there are 6 types of columns in Cameo CMS. The 6 types of column meet almost all needs for a light-weight content management task.
Features
I tried to list all the features but failed. Cameo CMS, however, is still growing up with new features added in.
- Simple operation process and easy-to-use interface. Our dream is that you forget you’re even using the software.
- Customizable templates. You can change a single page's appearance even when other pages are in a uniform template.
- Highly extensible. Cameo is just one of the modules in the genius integrated platform, and surely you can get more modules/plugins.
- Any content in Cameo, columns and articles, have their own user-friendly URL slug. You may enter slugs on your own, or generate slugs using integrated translate tool or Pinyin generator.
- Back-end administration for site config like site name, copyright line, address line, favorite icon in browsers or even breadcrumb separators. Administrators can change these without a web designer.
Latest
Cameo CMS is on the stage right before 1.0rc (release candidate). Bugs are being detected within our team. Some of my friends and small companies is using or is to use the trial version.
