Introduction
DirArchives is the development code for the web-based system of Online Directory of Archival Education and Training Institutions. It is a project under support of the Section for Archival Education and Training (SAE) of the International Council on Archives (ICA).
The development of this system was started in mid-August, 2009, and the main course of the development was accomplished within almost one month during the last period of that summer vacation. It might be not easy for one person to fulfill the whole tasks of system design, UI design and coding. Fortunately, however, this project was relatively small as its aim was straight-forward and it had only a few functions. In such a case, it might be approximate for one to fulfill all the R&D tasks on his own in order to simplify the workflow and increase the efficiency.
It inevitably takes long to make everything settled. It offers direct evidence that R&D is not the most time-consuming part in building a system. It seems difficult to set up a permanent domain name for the site. Now you can temporarily access the site through http://dirarchives.weakow.com.
The Use Instructions for the system is now available for both English and Chinese.
